Perplexity Search API: Real-Time Web Retrieval That Outperforms Closed Search Systems

Search APIs have not fundamentally changed how they surface content for AI systems until now. Perplexity has opened access to the same retrieval infrastructure that powers its public answer engine, and the architecture is built differently from the ground up.

The iQOO 15 is edging toward a worldwide release. A global variant with model number I2501 has surfaced on Malaysia’s SIRIM database, and reports also reference an EEC filing, which together point to launches in Malaysia and parts of Europe soon. That’s your green light to expect a staged rollout rather than a long wait.

A global iQOO 15 labeled I2501 appearing on SIRIM is the big tell. SIRIM is Malaysia’s approval gate for wireless devices; brands typically clear it weeks before local sales begin. The same device has been linked to an EEC listing, the paperwork brands use ahead of European retail. Taken together, this reads like a playbook we’ve seen from iQOO before: China first, then Malaysia and select European markets shortly after.

From official teasers, iQOO has locked in IP68/69 dust and water protection, wireless charging, and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that works reliably with wet fingers. The performance story looks predictable in a good way: widespread reporting suggests Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite at the helm, a big battery paired with ~100W wired charging, and the usual iQOO focus on gaming-friendly thermals. Until the full spec sheet drops, treat those as educated expectations, not certainties.

Given the SIRIM sighting, Malaysia is a strong candidate for the first global stop. The EEC reference lines up with Europe following soon after. In recent cycles, iQOO has moved quickly from certifications to shelves, so late-October to November windows feel reasonable for international markets outside China.

If you’re cross-shopping, keep an eye on OnePlus 15 and Realme GT 8 Pro both tipped on similar chipsets and timelines. iQOO’s answer looks like durability plus power: IP69 is rare in this tier, and wireless charging is a welcome add for the brand’s performance-first image.

Glossary

  • SIRIM: Malaysia’s device certification authority.
  • EEC: Eurasian Economic Commission, often a pre-retail paperwork step for Europe.
  • IP68/69: Protection from dust, immersion (IP68), and high-pressure jets (IP69).
