LG has significantly expanded its Gaming Portal, bringing over 4,000 cloud-based games and 600 casual titles directly to its Smart TVs. The update, announced December 28, 2025, eliminates the need for external consoles and introduces a new mobile controller app for enhanced gameplay. The Gaming Portal is available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 and above across multiple markets.

What’s New

LG’s latest Gaming Portal update adds two award-winning indie titles from the 2024 LG webOS Hackathon alongside hundreds of new casual and cloud-based games. The platform now features partnerships with Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, Blacknut, and Play.Works. Users can play games using either the LG Magic Remote for casual titles or the newly introduced LG Mobile Gamepad app for more complex gameplay.

The Gaming Portal supports 4K 120Hz HDR cloud gaming through GeForce NOW, making LG the first TV brand to offer this performance level. Over 600 free casual games are available without subscriptions, including Wheel of Fortune, Tetris, and PAC-MAN.

Why It Matters

This update transforms LG Smart TVs into standalone gaming platforms, removing the $300-500 barrier of console ownership. Cloud gaming access means users can play AAA titles like Halo, Call of Duty, and Forza Horizon without downloads or hardware installations. The platform is particularly significant for India and emerging markets where console penetration remains low but Smart TV adoption is growing rapidly.

LG’s Gaming Portal consolidates multiple streaming services and native games into one hub, addressing the fragmentation problem that has slowed cloud gaming adoption.

How It Works

Compatible Devices

  • LG Smart TVs (2021-2025 models with webOS 23+)
  • LG Smart Monitors (coming Q2 2025)
  • LG StanbyME screens (coming Q2 2025)

Control Options

  • Magic Remote for casual games
  • LG Mobile Gamepad app for AAA titles
  • Compatible third-party controllers

Game Library

Category Count Access
Cloud Games 4,000+ Subscription required
Casual Games 600+ Free/Freemium

What’s Next

LG plans to expand the Gaming Portal to Smart Monitors and StanbyME devices by Q2 2025 and roll out to additional markets beyond the current 30+ countries. The company has not announced pricing for the Mobile Gamepad app or whether it will be free for existing TV owners.

Voice control integration is in development, and LG is working with more indie developers from its webOS Hackathon program to bring exclusive titles to the platform.

LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 or higher, including OLED, QNED, and NanoCell models launched between 2021 and 2025. Check your TV’s software version in settings to confirm compatibility.

No. The 4,000 cloud-based games require subscriptions to services like GeForce NOW, Xbox Game Pass, or Amazon Luna. However, 600 casual games are available for free or as freemium titles.

What is the LG Mobile Gamepad app?

It’s a new companion app that turns your smartphone into a game controller for LG Smart TVs. It’s designed for complex games that require more inputs than the Magic Remote can provide. Availability details have not been announced.
